How you are welcomed as a mentor and what happens when you sign up. Once you have confirmed your mentor eligibility with us, we will ask for some key information such as:your current fellowship category achieved, the number of mentees you’d like to mentor, and any mentoring preferences (e.g., disciplines, etc.) The EdTA starts new groups of participants twice per academic year, usually in November and March. If you are available to mentor, we will email you to ask how many mentees you can currently take. If you are doing this for the first time, we recommend starting with one or two people. Next, we will provide you with our EdTA Mentor Handbook and the professional standards framework and ask you join our ‘Introduction to EdTA Mentoring’ event, which is offered once annually at the start of the academic year. It is mandatory that all new starting EdTA mentors attend our Introduction session, or watch the recording of the session after the fact.
