Networking and Time Management: Micro Courses

Two short courses aimed at staff and postgraduates at the University of Edinburgh, supporting you to feel more comfortable at networking and managing your time effectively.

Each course should take around 30 minutes to complete.  Additional reading and resources can be completed as extra.

An Introduction to Networking in Research 

A short networking course written with researchers in mind, it may also be useful to colleagues in other roles within research, such as research technicians. The course will help you think about your current network and the gaps, how to make the most of opportunities available to you and how to feel more comfortable about doing it.

The course includes short sections on:

  • What is networking?
  • How to get started with networking
  • What networking opportunities are available to you?
  • Preparing for a networking event

Access Networking Micro Course: 

Time Management 

A short course designed to be an introduction to time management, to help you to identify which aspects you need help with, some potential solutions available to you and what you might want to explore further.

The course includes short sections on:

  • What do we mean by time management?
  • How to feel more in control
  • Working with others
  • How to ensure you look after your wellbeing

Access Time Management Micro Course: 

Both courses include optional activities and resources and a reading list, to allow you to explore specific aspects in more detail.
