Changes to Institute for Academic Development

Following a review and a consultation with staff, changes have been made to the ways we deliver the services currently offered by the Institute for Academic Development. You can find out more about the change to IAD on the University Finances SharePoint: Changes to IAD (EASE log in required)

Student and staff (academic and researcher) development remain essential to the success of the University and our community. The University continues to provide central development support for all students, for staff who teach and support teaching, for doctoral supervisors and examiners and for all researchers.

How you access this support day-to-day is not changing until the next academic year, 2026-27.

Our activity is now consolidated into three main areas and has been relocated:

  • Student Academic Skills Development (for UG, PGT and PGR students) has moved to the Careers Service
  • Academic Development has moved to Academic Quality and Standards (Registry Services)
  • Researcher Development has moved to the Edinburgh Research Office

We are updating our online content to its new location, and at the end of this current academic year this website will be closed. Please check back for redirect links.
