There is compelling evidence that co-creation in Learning and Teaching leads to enhanced student engagement, confidence, and a sense of belonging.We, as University of Edinburgh staff and student colleagues, are committed to enhancing and expanding opportunities for co-creation. Our Manifesto aligns with many of the commitments outlined in the University’s Learning and Teaching Strategy and Skills for Success Framework. Manifesto for co-creation in learning and teaching Learning and teaching should be with students, not done to students Co-creation transforms everyone: students, staff, and institutions Co-created learning, teaching and assessment is inherently inclusive Co-creation is built on mutual respect, trust, and open minds All staff have a responsibility to plan and enable co-creation opportunities All students have a responsibility to bring their views and expertise to co-creation activities Institutions have a responsibility to enable and reward student and staff co-creation How do we co-create? Offer choice between meaningful options in course content, learning activities, and assessment Nurture genuine engagement through dialogue Foster mutual respect, shared responsibility, and reciprocity Seek agreement and develop understanding through respectful negotiation Promote student agency Share power, ownership, and decision making Share this with a colleague We invite EVERYONE to be part of transforming the student and staff experience!
