Discussing your ideas

If you are interested in completing a PhD in your current School or Institute, you should discuss your ideas with your postgraduate Programme Director or dissertation supervisor, as soon as possible.

They can advise you if they think this is a suitable option for you, and what funding sources may be available. Funding for further postgraduate study can be complicated - there may be funding schemes in your research area with strict application requirements and deadlines, or it may be more common that students self-fund. Seek advice from your existing support contacts, including from staff in your Graduate School office.

Funding your studies

The University Scholarships and Student Funding Service provides a range of useful advice and information on potential funding opportunities for further study. This includes the Alternative Guide to Postgraduate Funding, which both current and prospective students who have applied to the University can access.
