Eligibility

Who is eligible to participate in the EdTA scheme?

The EdTA welcomes anyone who is full-time or part-time employed to teach or support learning at the University of Edinburgh including colleagues in research and professional services roles and doctoral students. Clinical or workplace staff who provide work-based teaching are also eligible.

What do we mean by teaching or supporting university learning?

  • Giving or contributing to lectures, seminars, workshops or tutorials
  • Leading field trips, excursions, research projects, site visits, studios, clinics, and outdoor education
  • Research supervision including laboratory and technical support
  • Designing and delivering online learning, technology and library training, modules, short courses, and/or simulation-based learning
  • Student life, wellbeing, cohort-lead duties, student and academic development, disability and other various student and staff support work
  • And many other functions and duties that enhance learning at the university

Please note that you need to be employed or enrolled in a doctoral study programme at the University of Edinburgh that covers the time you will be involved in the EdTA, and you must be currently employed/studying when you submit your completed documents. This is to meet our accreditation requirements.

If you are in a time-crunch, we recommend applying directly to Advance HE.

Unfortunately, we cannot support Masters or Undergraduate students who engage in teaching activities due to high programme demand and resources.
