Computational thinking in data science: Strategies for Effective Learning School: EngineeringTeam: Danai Korre, Jonathan CorneyAbstractThe purpose of this project is to introduce the concept of computational thinking (CT) to educators who wish to teach introductory data science courses using Python using CT principles. CT has become of interest not only to the educational community but also the industry and it is considered a valuable skillset beyond the computer science domain. In order for this goal to be achieved we need to create and curate a collection of CT activities which will be used in a workshop format. Part of these activities will be tailored to python and data science while others to the general concept of CT. Presentations will also be developed based on the four pillars of CT, abstraction, decomposition, algorithms, and pattern recognition. This article was published on 2024-10-16
