Internal resources HR Talent and Development: HR provide a range of support for all staff to develop and there are a number of courses and resources that will be relevant for all staff.Research Staff Hub: The Research Staff Hub, supported by the Institute for Academic Development (IAD), brings together resources from across the University to support research staff to undertake their role, develop themselves and progress their career. It contains a wealth of information on topics such as open research, ethics and integrity and research partnerships, as well as funding, health and wellbeing, and community and networking. Though it is aimed at research staff, many of the resources are also relevant for PIs. Postgraduate research supervisors & examiners: The IAD provide information and guidance for staff who supervise and examine postgraduate research students. There is dedicated support for all PhD supervisors available, whether you are a new or experienced supervisor. This includes mandatory online training on fundamentals of supervision. IAD4Researchers - Researcher Development Blog: IAD4Researchers is a blog where we share experiences, promote events and courses including support for research leaders, update on Concordats and Research culture developments, and reflect on our work supporting researchers at all stages. External resources Prosper portal – PI Network: The Prosper PI Network aims to help managers of researchers and principal investigators to support the career development of their research staff, by sharing best practice and providing peer support and resources. The Prosper Portal is an amazing resource and brings together the wealth of experience and best practice that academic staff across the UK have, as well as the benefits of colleagues from different disciplines and with different levels of experience having a forum to discuss approaches to postdoc development. Imperial College - the Academic’s Success Guide: is an open resource that puts together a collection of materials designed to support you in the various elements of establishing your career as a newly appointed lecturer and leading your first research group. Though it is specific to Imperial College, a lot of the advice is very applicable to all academics who are newly appointed lecturers and research leaders and provides easy to navigate resources in three key areas; Navigating induction and probation, managing yourself and your career, and leading your research group. Future Leaders Fellows Development Network: The Future Leaders Fellows Development Network from UKRI delivers specialised leadership training, access to networks and mentors, and collaborative opportunities for Future Leaders Fellows. They have made some of their resources available to everyone such as: Research Insights, a series of six films connecting researchers with the different ways that their research can influence policy, the arts, business and industry; Next Generation Research, the podcast spotlighting six of the UK’s best researchers and their research over six weeks.
