The University successfully gained the 'HR Excellence in Research Award' from the European Commission back in 2010 and then retained it over a number of internal and external reviews until September 2020. The University was on track to renew this award in September 2020 but once the Concordat was revised and significantly updated in 2019, our plans and commitments were re-focused to becoming a signatory to the Concordat and publishing our institutional Concordat action plan. The University of Edinburgh strongly endorses the principles of the UK Concordat to Support the Career Development of Researchers and our published action plan allows us to have a higher and broader level of institutional engagement, demonstrating our commitment to our researchers and their broader skills development.
